Err Vanessa George Assignment
Vanessa George has been an employee for 3 years at Little Ted’s day nursery in Plymouth. Neighbours describe Miss George as a respectable member of the community, co-workers and parents describe her as being a fun and bubbly person who was easy to get along with. Before starting at Little Ted’s she worked as a classroom assistant in an unnamed school for 6 years.
To make a little extra on her time off she would child mind for local parents in the community. In 2008 Miss George joined a Facebook group “against child abuse” and was still a member of this group while committing her crimes. Miss George has 2 teenaged daughters whose names were not released due to privacy reasons never the less an indecent photograph was found of her 14 year old. Miss George was arrested on the 8th June 2009 and charged with 7 counts of sexual assault and 6 counts of producing and distributing indecent pictures of children.
On 11th June 2009 in Her Majesties crown court in Bristol George pleaded guilty to all charges. Just prior to her arrest she told police, “I knew this would happen. I can’t believe what I have done. That family don’t know anything about it I’m disgusted with myself I can’t believe what I have done I love children” then corrected herself to “I love working with children.” Originally the number of children involved was feared to be as high as 300 but this was disproven by local police and narrowed down to around 30 but this was still too high for societies liking.
On 15th December 2009 Miss George was jailed for her crimes of producing and distributing indecent pictures of the children under her care in the nursery by Mr Justice Royce as judge presiding, Mr Simon Morgan as the prosecution, and in her defence was Mr Nicolas Gerasimidis.
Miss George was sentenced indefinitely - it was explained to her that if she could prove to the courts that she was no longer a danger to the public society then parole would consider sanctioning her premature
