Esmé's Teaching Philosophies

Mrs. Jones "still has up a winter scene and February's calendar." How significant is this? Explain. (13 May, p. 158) Personally, I believe that Mrs. Jones having the February calendar and a winter scene up in the middle of May has a great deal of negative significance. The way a teacher prepares and maintains the look, layout, and function of their classroom displays noticeable characteristics of the effort, consideration, and motivation they place in their job and their student’s education. Creating a fun and interactive classroom for students can be difficult to do and maintain for all levels of education; however, all students will recognize the effort that we, as teachers, place in our own classrooms as the amount of effort we are willing to place into their personal education and success as a student.
Include at least one specific, concrete choice Esmé makes, and explain why you would or would not make the same choice. My teaching philosophy and Esmé's teaching philosophy display similarities in our high beliefs in exhibiting honesty, acquiring personal investment, and establishing and maintaining high expectations for all students.
A choice that Esmé makes that displays her teaching philosophy is when she takes away the library from the entire class after a comic book has gone missing. I agree with the choice that Esmé made, and probably would have made the same choice. Choosing to take away the library, even though it killed her inside, displayed to her students that she expected honesty from them and had the same honest expectations for everyone in the class.
