Something Brand New!
What comes to mind when you see EE or EoE? If you do not know what this stand for you’re not alone, only a handful of people know what those letters stand for. For those who do know what these letters stand for it is not a pleasant experience by any means. EE or EoE stands for eosinophilic esophagitis. What is this mouthful of a phrase you ask? EoE is an auto immune disease and is characterized as a relatively new disease in comparison to all the others that are out there. Unfortunately the number of recorded cases is steadily increasing with each year. So as you see it is becoming a popular trend that no one wants.
Where did you come from?
Now you may wonder where this even came from. The first documented report of EoE was record 30 years ago. Now at this time it was one of few if not the only case like this at its time. As a result it was not on the number one priority list compared to other medical sicknesses such as cancer & aids. So it has flown under the radar the whole time until about ten years ago. As a result of this the epidemiology for eosinophilic esophagitis is still deemed as unclear. Now as an individual that has been diagnosed with this disease, it is not something in particular you would want a doctor to tell you.
Is it inside me? Now there are a lot more people in the world that have the disease and don’t know it. It can be found is both children and adults. Many people can confuse it with just have a stomach virus or something similar in comparison. Now don’t be alarmed if you do have eosinophilic esophagitis you would most likely know by now or at least after a couple weeks of the same reoccurring symptoms you would have gotten yourself to the doctor hopefully.
Now what are this symptoms/ problems that I speak of? The main one that should set the alarms off in your head would be food impaction often referred to as dysphagia when you are talking in the terms
