Guys Do Not Have a Rigid and Well-Defined Moral Code
Here are many times in life when we will be faced with making a decision. Some of these decisions will be pretty simple. Some of them will be very difficult and could result in something happening that goes against all we believe in, or our moral responsibility.
Morality is a set of rules that modifies our behavior in social situations.
A choice is something one must make frequently throughout each and every day of one’s lifetime. Some choices may be easier to make than others. One must choose to get out of bed each morning, what someone wants to eat or drink, whom one should converse with. Other choices may not quite be as simple to make, or the choices I make throughout my life may be easy choices to me, but to someone else those choices would be very hard to make.
A moral dilemma is to be placed in a situation which involves conflicts between moral requirements. These situations have a very apparent conflict between moral imperatives such that obeying one will result in transgressing the other.
A person’s success or failure can be determined by their environment, education, choices; a number of different things. The autobiography “The Other Wes Moore” takes a look at two boys with the same name and eerily similar circumstances who end up in very different places in life. Wes Moore spoke at concourse about his book and what he hoped that people would get from it. In the book he says “The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his.” (Moore xi). These two men did not share the same fate because they each made a choice about what they wanted their life to become. The book truly demonstrates how the choices you make, make you. One Wes Moore showed that you can make the decision to not be a product of your environment or any other situation, and go on to be very successful in life.
