Define Academic Transformation:
Process whereby you assess your current situation as a student, determine short and long term academic goals based on your values, chart changes necessary to reach those goals, and then make those changes. List the 6 steps to academic transformation.
1. Asses your current academic situation.
2. Set short and long term academic goals based on your values.
3. Create a list of immediate objectives and an action plan to meet them.
4. Accomplish your objectives.
5. Evaluate your progress.
6. Make adjustments as needed, and repeat.
Compare/contrast a teacher-directed learner and an autonomous learner.
Teacher - directed learner is expected to learn by following the teacher's assignments and directions, and an autonomous learner is an independent learner.
Define Autonomous Learner:
Autonomous Learner is a person independently competent in a wide variety of academic tasks, able to achieve goals based on values skilled in self - reflection.
What are the seven characteristics of an autonomous learner?
1. Autonomous Learners have a realistic view of themselves and their academic abilities.
2. Autonomous Learners are ethical.
3. Autonomous Learners set realistic and appropriate goals for academic achievement.
4. Autonomous Learners understand their own learning strengths and weaknesses.
5. Autonomous Learners use effective learning strategies and adapt those strategies to new situations.
6. Autonomous Learners manage their behaviors to reach their goals.
7. Autonomous Learners use appropriate resources
