Can you imagine that your life could change by programs you are involved in? That is what happened to me. Last year, I joined TAPP (Teen Advocate for Pregnancy Prevention) which meant I had to communication with youths that did not want to listen. I had to be very creative and sometime be an actor to get my point across to the youths. I began to realize that God gave me a gift to communicate and act so I needed to pursue this major. I began to investigate different universities which offer drama/theatre arts and communication. With the help of my SBI mentor, I decided to attend the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. There I will major in drama/theatre arts where I plan to earn a BA in acting. I believe attending this university will allow me to complete my desire career and goals in life even though I am only an upcoming Junior I have plans for my life. Acting has always been an interest of mine; I enjoy entertaining people and expressing my feelings through words, exaggerated facial expressions and body movements. My family and friends have always said I am very dramatic and humorous so I know this would be a great career for me; this is why I am so dedicated and interested in pursuing this career. My minor in college will be communications and broadcasting. I will use this knowledge to help youths in my neighborhood where drugs and crime rate are high; to get them involved in programs for teens that will teach them to focus on God, school, and activities. I will spend countless hours getting them to study their lessons to obtain the highest grades possible. With the encouragement of the staff at different programs, I see this happening.
