Kite Tournament in Afghanistan
In Afghanistan there is a famous sport they practice a lot which is Kite Flying people may think its just a regular kite flying like we are accustomed to, but its actually more complex than that. It consist of two types of comepetion there is the kite fighting competition and the kite running. This is a famous sport practiced in Afghanistan and lots of people get involved with it. It’s a big celebration when They do these tournaments. Kite flying is one of the biggest celebrations in Afghanistan.
People have been flying kites in Afghanistan for more than 100 years, kite flying is a common hobby of many Afghans throughout the country. But what is actually the goal in the sport? Kite running is the practice of running after drifting kites in the sky that have been cut loose in kite fighting. Kites are flown and fought in India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran, especially in the Indian subcontinent throughout the year and during kite flying festivals. Both kite runners and kite fighters die or endanger their lives because they run into the path of oncoming traffic and trains without looking down or fall from trees and buildings which they were trying to scale to get at kites that landed on top while gazing up and running after kites.
Not every Kite can compete in the tournament theirs is some specification that need to be met. Kites used range from 0.5 meter to 1.5 meters across. The usual name for the sport is gudiparan bazi and for the cutting line tar. As elsewhere, the line is traditionally made with a cotton line and coated with a mixture of crushed glass and rice glue. However, nylon string with stronger glue is now often the preferred line. Kites can go up to 3,500 meters in height depending on the size of the kite. Each place of the world that practices this sport has their own types of specifications.
