Essay: My Experience At K State University
It’s senior day and I’m walking through campus with my name tag on my shirt that labels me for everyone to see. The thought of college panics me as I see thousands of students undergoing classes that apply to their major; there must be people like me that are unsure about what they want to commit to doing for the rest of their lives at eighteen years old. We are let out early from our “undecided major” class, and told to go explore before lunch. It is passing period and we go outside to get a feel for the rest of the campus. A girl comes up to my family on her own lunch break, unpremeditated, and talks to us. She seems genuinely concerned with how our day is going, and what I am thinking about studying. She reassures me that a lot of kids change their major before they graduate. We had heard Dean Bosco say that you can ask anyone on campus, “if you were to do it over again, would you go here?” My mom asks this girl the question, and without hesitation she said, “every single time.” Everyone on campus was so kind and considerate without even knowing me. I feel at home, and I’m not …show more content…
One of the greatest strengths that the K-State community possesses is a family bond. Anyone you walked up to was so welcoming and willing to help out with anything you needed; that is a very hard quality to find on other campus’. I am so excited to be apart of this family bond, while welcoming new family members. I can definitely add to the outstanding atmosphere that K-State offers. I take time out of my day to service people, I make an effort to better communities by putting forth a great deal work to become an exceptional role model, and I will reciprocate that family feeling I had on my first day. By letting me join your community, you will not just gain another student, you’ll gain a member that genuinely cares about K-State and the people it has to offer. I am ecstatic to show this incredible school what I have to

I’ve lived in the same neighborhood for as long as I can remember. I’ve gone to school with the same peers. I’ve been blessed enough to not have dealt with much turmoil in my life. I live with my supporting mother who has always been around to drop everything she’s doing to come to my aid. With all this in mind, you could come to the conclusion that I have not had to deal with a lot of change in my life nor have I ever welcomed it. So in my sophomore year when I was invited to participate in a summer program which entailed me leaving home for six weeks, me nor my mother were excited about the opportunity. I did not know that the program, called the Emory Pipeline Collaborative Program, would completely change my outlook on life and my identity…

That being said, I can hardly express my full measure of gratitude for the astounding love and kindness expressed to me by others as I transitioned into my life here at Seminole. In this short period of time I have experienced a greater level of respect amongst peers, a deep-seeded passion and dedication for what we do, and a more vibrant community of musicians and performers than I ever could have begun to imagine. The group we have here is truly unique, and having an outside perspective I can truly appreciate the power this program has to change…

My first few weeks of classes at UW-Platteville have surprisingly been fun and brought many opportunities of clubs I did not think I would join. When I imagined going to college for the first time, I thought I would cry and be homesick. To not be homesick I told myself to be involved with the Welcome Weekend activities and it worked! My classes were intimidating on the first day, but now that we have had many classes I am comfortable. I am using my time management skills everyday because I have many meetings to attend. Overall, I am glad I choose to continue my education at UW-Platteville because it feels like home.…

I began working at Keeter my first semester at College of the Ozarks. On my first day of work, the supervisor handed me a gleaming gold name tag that not only had my name but the state I came from. I watched as others put their nametags on, and I quickly discovered that most of them read Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. I looked down at my nametag and felt a sense of uniqueness, knowing no one in the room had the state of Virginia. I soon began to realize that my nametag sparked curiosity when the guests saw how far I had traveled. Guest after guest would ask the same question, “How did you end up here?” I answered this question dozens of times within a day. There were days that I would begrudgingly tell the Keeter guests my journey to this College, but never once did I fail to cherish the opportunity I was given.…

The event that I choose to follow summer fest was a simple and casual visit to the wellness and recreational center, fancy way of saying the gym. Upon my first ever visit to Florida International University I still remember at our freshmen orientation entering the gym and thinking to myself this seems like a place that I will be visiting often during my four year tenure at school. And boy was I right, the facility was clean and professional looking very much like a professional gym would appear, the staff where all kind and ready to assist you if help was ever necessary, something that I truly valued. I was extremely exited to take a spinning class at the FIU gym, I had only ever heard positive reviews and I was looking forward to the experience as well. Personally I am obsessed with fitness so any class, or activity is something that I love to experience which is what drove me to experience the class myself, and did, I love it. When I got out of that class I was sweating so much, I felt like I had gone on a run around the world and it so amazing, the instructor knew exactly what she was doing and had no problem helping you out if you needed it, the music was fun and exiting extremely up tempo. Overall I can only rave about the experience, it was positive and motivational. It has truly inspired me to no matter how stressed I may be I can always go down to the gym and relieve my stress while gaining a benefit as well.…

My time at the community college was used to focus on building a strong academic foundation, specifically tutoring international students English every week as they tried to maneuver through their lives in the United States. I remember during one particular session, a Chinese exchange student told me that when she first arrived in Seattle, she was in a state of euphoria. However, her inability to communicate fluently with her peers hindered her from adapting to the customs in America. Consequently, it impeded her from making her own place in society. Another individual, who emigrated from Eritrea, confessed she was still unfamiliar with having additional resources at her fingertips. She grew up in an area where advanced technological tools,…

As I sit here writing my first essay for Honors 101, I get to recall my decision making process to supposedly spending the best four years of my life at the University of Mississippi. To be honest, I believe I am very blessed to have an in-state school with the prestige such that of Ole Miss. Among others, a major reason I decided to come to Ole Miss was because of the low cost of tuition due to scholarships in return for a high value of education. From a young age, I have always been fascinated with Ole Miss’s rich history and breathtaking campus. All throughout my adolescence, family members with medical backgrounds have drilled into me to go to UMC to pursue a medical degree after my undergraduate studies. I believe it was part of my plan…
