The ascribed status of the above of the person mention above is her being African American. An ascribed status is something you are born into she was born African American and she might of been born into a poor neighborhood. Sometimes the neighborhood you reside in is something that you could of been born into. Out of these two statuses only one could be changed is the neighborhood she resides in. Young African-American single mothers from questionable neighborhoods fall into the category of their ascribed attributes based on laziness, lack of motivation and uneducated. In actuality many single mothers are hardworking and they have to take both roles of parenting.

The ascribed status of a 60 old male is his age. His age is something he can not change and being this age many people are tend to pass judgement. Most people are getting ready to retire or at least preparing for retirement.
His age affects his achievements many employers may not want to give him a job because they may feel he can not keep up like someone who is younger. Some employers may also want to employ a younger candidate whose salary would be significantly less.
Being unemployed at the age of 60 people may think he is lazy or automatically assume that he is uneducated. His ascribed statues affects many areas of his life including his job hunting. It is hard to find a job at any age but especially when your life is already suppose to be in place.
