people of the United States saying that King Jr.’s dreams are becoming a reality. Equality amongst all people is actually occurring. He also states that not only equality amongst civil rights is increasing, but employment and wages among the different races are starting level out. Barack Obama believes that equality throughout the United States is increasing. There is a whole other side to equality in the United States. Joseph E. Stiglitz believes that the income and economy in this country is very unfair and unjust. Income and wages vary so incredibly across the entire U.S. A family right down the road could be making three times as much as another person. People cannot live the same life as others because of the amount of money they make. This inequality is an overlooked thing in daily life. Stiglitz believes that the economy is a very unjust system. The second article written by Stiglitz is well presented and extremely factual. The written work lays out informational text that adds to the work. He presents it in a way that is very objective and leaves his opinion out of the writing and just leaves it all to facts to support his side. Barack Obama’s speech is very powerful, but also very opinionated. Therefore, it may be said to not be as convincing or well put together as something that is extremely objective. Stiglitz writing has a better style and presentation than Obama’s speech. Even though I think Stiglitz article was written better, I do not necessarily agree with the prepositions he explains.
I believe that equality is increasingly getting better as Obama said in his speech. Economics and income is almost something a person cannot control. If a person puts in the time to get a higher education, then that person should be paid more. Economics is an ever changing thing and people just have to accept the fact that it will most likely never be exactly equal amongst everybody. Equality has been an ongoing issue in every aspect of life. Many have addressed it such as President Obama and Joseph E. Stiglitz, but they both have different views on the subject. President Obama thinks that inequality is slowly coming to end and that King’s dream is becoming a reality. Stiglitz believes that the United States economy is corrupt and extremely unequal. Their opinions may vary, but I think equality amongst all is becoming something
real.
