Annie Leibovitz is considered one of America’s best portrait photographers who developed a trademark while working at Rolling Stone magazine. She was born on October 2, 1949 here in Waterbury, Connecticut. In 1970 is when she landed her chief photographer position at Rolling Stone creating a distinctive look. In 1983 she started at entertainment magazine Vanity Fair continuing to create images that were both iconic and provocative. She has also worked on many high profile campaigns and her pictures have been featured in many exhibits and books around the globe!
As for her early life, she was born with having five siblings and her father was an Air Force lieutenant and her mother Marilyn being a modern dance instructor. In 1967, she enrolled at the San Francisco Art Institute where she went for painting but grew a love for photography. For obvious reasons she is very well known for her photos but I find her actual technique very intriguing. I personally enjoy her portraits of famous women which mostly if not all of the pictures I chose to depict. I think getting intimate with her photos was a very good choice because it shows a little more emotion from the subject and makes you want to know more about them and even the person behind the camera. The lighting in the one of Angelina Jolie shows her pale skin and darkness contrast in black and white. The up close of Rihanna’s lips show her rough side showing her teeth and shows the macro close up to the bottom of her face. The picture of Adele writing makes you wonder what she is writing exactly because Adele she such a powerful lyricist and
