Books started being burned way back during the holocaust times. The most famous book burning was in May of 1933. Books were burned if they were written by a Jewish writer or if it went against Adolf Hitler. The Nazis first censored and destroyed those German books that they considered problematic, then destroyed the books of those they considered pathological (the Jews), inferior (the Poles), and resistant (the British) (Knuth 1). Book burning is an extreme form of book banning. By getting rid of books you are destroying any sort of ideas that the writer wants the readers to view. Book burning was such a serious case during world war two. Many people were killed because they really wanted to read or protect a book from being destroyed. Even though a book may seem offensive to one person it can mean the absolute world to another person. Even though book burning was serious case not everyone agreed. “President Dwight Eisenhower, who as a president directed American troops against Communist forces in Korea, disagreed. ‘Don’t join the book burner’, he said. ‘Don’t think you are going to conceal faults by concealing evidence that they ever existed (“Library Censorship Is Not Justified” 3). In 2001 pastor Doug Taylor wanted to hold a book burning because he felt that if you read any
