Essay On Brave New World
Our society is going to be like in the book called, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Our society is becoming like Brave New Worlds because our technology is just like theirs. Our technology is starting to make embryos in test tubes just like theirs. We already have the same drugs as them that make us happy, for quite a while now. Both of the religions in Brave New World and in our world are completely destroying the world.
This was my opinion about Brave New World and our society that’s lacking. The technology in genetics, in Brave New World and our society, are already making embryo test tubes. The world as we know it is becoming one step closer each day to where Brave New World is at right now. Brave New World’s technology is a lot more high tech than our technology. Brave New World has the drug Soma, while our society has Anti-Depressants which basically do the same thing. Brave New World only has one drug named Soma which people take to mentally feel better. In our society has many drugs, not only for mental health, but for physical and recreational use. What I noticed between Brave New World and our society is that they don’t miss-use their drug. Our society miss-uses a lot of our drugs, whether it's to “catch a high” or to take a drug that is not intended for that person. When babies are made in the test tubes the director puts drugs and alcohol into its DNA. That is something that our society, thankfully, does not do. The religion in Brave New World is based on technology and mind altering drugs. They “worship” a man named Lord Ford who invented the T-Model. He was a pioneer in Technology. Instead of visiting church, the community attends drug induced mind altering orgies. The members are waiting for soma to create an endless fortune during the orgies. Our society gives us the freedom to worship the God we believe

    To this day I still believe that Aldous Huxley is a genius. This book was written in 1931 and it poses problems that we have not even started to face yet. He saw what things could be turned into and how fast good science can all go wrong. I was amazed by the book because it was what I wanted to do with my life, which is to play with genetics and come up with cures to help people who suffer from illness. Reading this book my senior year showed me how serious playing with genetics could get. In “Brave New World” there are no diseases and there is world peace. Everyone belongs to a group so no one feels left out, but everyone is genetically made to go into a certain group. People are made in test tubes and genetically made to serve a purpose and do their certain job. They are developed in an incubator and gone under certain things to make them fit into a group. For instance, for a group that is not supposed to be very smart and is supposed to do manual work they will expose the embryo to chemicals throughout the embryos development to harm the development. Once they are born they are not released into the world until they are adults. The children are brainwashed growing up so that they do not threaten the World State. The World State is that everything is at peace, ruled by a few that really know all of the secrets. Many people believe that when we strive for perfect genes when are making progression to the “Brave New World.” Some People believe that by fixing genes we are causing more problems. In America, we have never stopped progressing. We strive to be the best and sometimes we cross boundaries to do it. What’s to say a boundary won’t be crossed here?
