Geographical Location
The geographical locations of temperate deciduous forest biomes are in the eastern part of the United States and Canada, most of Europe, parts of China, and Japan. They are located between the polar regions and the tropics.
Climate Conditions
The weather of the temperate deciduous forest biome has four distinct changing seasons of winter, spring, summer, and fall. The seasons occur here because of the Earth’s tilt on its axis which allows the sun to hit directly on different areas of the world at different times throughout the year causing varying temperatures of which are the seasons. These biomes are exposed to both warm and cold air masses, which cause these seasons to occur. The temperatures can vary widely from each season with cold winters and hot, wet summers. The temperate deciduous forest is the second rainiest biome. The precipitation amounts average yearly between 30-60 inches or 75-150 cm. Precipitation occurs as rain throughout the year, but in the winter, it can also occur as snow. The average yearly temperature is 50° F or 10° C. The winter temperatures often fall below freezing and can drop to -22° F or -30° C, and the summer …show more content…
Some of the animals hibernate in the winter season and some migrate to other areas to escape the cold. The animals that don’t hibernate or migrate need to have adaptations in order to handle being more exposed to predators during the winter season because of having less coverage to hide in due to the lack of leaves. One animal found here it is the black bear. They are an example of a mammal that hibernates during the winter. Other animals found here are white-tailed deer, raccoons, panthers, mountain lions, opossums, chipmunks, porcupines, and red foxes. Some birds that live here are the bald eagle, snowy owls, pileated woodpeckers, broad-winged hawks, and
