Today I am happy to announce the government of Canada’s decision to create a new national dental policy for Canadians who do not have dental plans through their employer. This new policy will ensure all Canadians have access to affordable dental care. This new policy will protect people and provide Canadians with quality dental care.
This new policy will help hard-working Canadians, their families and their children by ensuring that they have proper and affordable dental care. Canadians have gone long enough without this policy. Every Canadian should have access to affordable dental coverage. Every Canadian should not avoid going to the dentist because the bill is too expensive.

Affordable dental policies should be accessible and not earned, they should automatic and not a privilege and they should be affordable and a luxury.
Canadians want a government that is providing essential services. Canadians want a government that is listening. Canadians voted for a government that promised change and today we are fulfilling our promise. Affordable dental care is an important issue. Today I am proud to promise a new policy that provides affordable dental care to all Canadians.
Under our current system many Canadians are not getting the quality of dental care that they deserve. Under our current system, the quality of overall resources and services is inadequate. Under the current system many people face hurdles. The public health system needs to change, it needs to serve everyone, it needs to provide affordable care.
The single mom in Halifax should not have to cancel her son’s dentist appointment because her benefits do not over a basic cleaning. The newly graduated university student in Victoria should not have to worry about how she is going to pay her dental bill now that she is no longer covered by her parents but has yet to secure a job with
