The Civil Rights Movement helped many people gain equality and voting rights. Frederick Douglass, a runaway slave, was an influential abolitionist. He ran away to become an influential writer and tell many about the lives of slaves with his book, the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass an American Slave. He wrote illegally under a Black newspaper paper through the Underground Railroad. He great influence for many Blacks in order to gain their equality and voting rights. Martin Luther King Jr., a preacher, had sit-ins, marches, and peaceful protests for the fight for no discrimination. His peaceful protest had a great impact on the lives of colored people everywhere. Because of his fight, many people of all races can sit together in peace and no discrimination. Rosa Parks was a black woman who helped both black men and women gain rights. After one long day of work, she sat on the bus which was not allowed for any colored person, seats were for white people. One white woman came on the bus so that meant Parks had to give up her seat but Parks refused, which was a crime. She was the woman who sat on the bus so coloreds can sit on the bus and get their basic human respects. People like Frederick Douglass Marti Luther King Jr., and Rosa Parks all stood up for what they believed in with disobedience.
