Coastal erosion in Louisiana is the process of steady depletion of wetlands, along the state’s coastline in marshes, swamps, and barrier islands. Southeast Louisiana has lost a large portion of its wetlands within the past 5 years and is expected to lose more in the coming years. One problem of coastal erosion is an increased vulnerability to hurricane surges which affects New Orleans. Louisiana is home to several different species from the smallest scales of life like bacteria to even bigger life forms like alligators and many other swamp animals. The situation not only affects their way of living by decreasing the size of their enviornment but also the supply of shelter and food. If there is no shelter or food it is impossible for anyhing to survive species will slowly or even quickly decrease and become extinct. However certain animals contribute to the process of erosion like Nutria they actually burrow into the ground making it lest sustainable against water and wind which increases the chance of erosion. There has been no valid or legitamit solution to prevent or stop this from
