Girl Scouts of the USA As young girls start school, they are presented with the opportunity to join the Girl Scouts of the USA. The opportunity is first presented as girls start kindergarten, but girls of any age are allowed to join Girl Scouts, even adults (FAQs). As an organization, Girl Scouts empower young girls to reach their full potential, showing them that they are not inferior to men. This organization attempts to create equality between men and women, by educating about and empowering young girls. As an organization, the Girl Scouts of the USA effectively teach young girls real world skills needed to be successful. For a Leadership Journeys, the girls can do things like: “performing science experiments, creating art projects, cooking simple meals, or learning to protect the planet's water supply”(“Leadership Journey”). These journeys are a way for the girls to learn and utilize the Girl Scout’s Keys to Leadership. The keys to leadership are Discover, Connect, and Take Action (“Leadership Journey”). The Discover step encourages girls to find “her special skills and talents” (Leadership Journey). Next, the Connect, which means that the scouts need to learn how to work with others. Finally, Taking Action means that they need to act and “makes the world a better place” (“Leadership Journey”). These steps build a sturdy foundation essential for the girls to become influential leaders. Teaching girls leadership skills enables them to become extremely successful in their chosen career. Furthermore, it contributes to these young girls in lessening the inequality between men and women.
