Essay On Gunsmith Safety

As an aspiring gunsmith, when safety looms overhead as the topic, I can imagine like me and countless others it’s a multi-facet spectrum that’s a revolving door for evolution. The only thing that is ever constant is change. What worked or was an acceptable practice yesterday will certainly fall to scrutiny today. So strictly, in my opinion, I tend to follow a simple acronym: Keep it simple stupid(KISS). If it makes sense, fulfills a role in the purest form, and is practically overall (regardless of which weapon system), chances are you cannot go wrong with instilling this practice. I prefer to think of safety as a dominant pillar in every walk of life. Whether it be operating a vehicle, going for a swim, or even handling and operating a firearm or heavy machinery. It should take place in an emviroment with little to no distractions and the user needs to have a full understanding of what the machinery or firearm(s) is capable of and the characteristics associated with operating/handling. I wouldn’t like to think that safety is limited to only gunsmiths, but gun owners/enthusiast
Sadly, this is not the reality we live in. The concept to mitigate this is simple though, if you do not understand how a certain mechanism/tool works, simply ask questions. It’s more benificial to ask a question to familirize yourself than to have a incident due to ignorance. Granted, not every incident has a grim outcome, at times it can serve as a learning platform and a humility check. That being said, on the other side of the spectrum ignorance can lead to more sinister endings, i.e: death, serious injury, and destruction of personal property. So adopting a series of guiding principles(safety rules) that are practical, easily understood, and serve in an overlapping manner is the best course of action to maximize
