Essay On Honors Program
One thing that I am most looking forward to about college is being in an Honor’s program. I have always been one to challenge myself with advanced curriculum. I jump at every opportunity to take an advanced or Honors course at my school. I have been taking advanced classes since the seventh grade. I enjoy taking honors courses because they allow me to use my strengths and abilities at a higher and more advanced level. I believe that I have so much to offer if I am accepted into UNA’s Honors Program. Every honors program needs students that are driven and motivated to succeed. One of my biggest strengths is my ability to test my limits. I do not believe in settling for the easy route because I know I am capable of so much more. Some honors programs may weaken if the program contains students who are not willing to challenge themselves. As an honor student, I always strive to be the best I can possibly be. I believe in pushing my limits and exceeding my own expectations. I strongly encourage myself to try new things and step out of my comfort zone. I am not only willing to challenge …show more content…
I know from experience that honors courses can be very challenging and stressful. Even when I am facing the hardest classes, I know that I must never give up. I put all the effort I possibly can into my work. Even when I receive grades that I am not so proud of, I never get discouraged. I am happy knowing that I did my best. I am willing to accept any form of constructive criticism, and I am willing to seek help from professors whenever I may need it. Perseverance is an important quality for honors students to have. Honors students especially should know that it takes a whole lot of dedication and persistence to maintain above average grades in such demanding courses. I believe that my tenacity is something I can offer the Honors Program. The program will benefit from students who, like myself, are strong

From a lack of available parking spaces, to poorly managed dining services, the university has no shortage of problems that need to be solved. One problem in particular that deserves immediate attention is the issue of the Honors College. Being enrolled in the Jesup Scott Honors College is a prestigious honor and is a well-respected program; however, there are issues within the Honors College that make it difficult for the wide-eyed, ambitious freshmen to graduate as honors students. A major dilemma that works against students is the seemingly endless list of requirements to graduate with honors. Students are expected to complete 33 semester hours of honors courses, in addition to completing a capstone thesis and enroll in upper-level interdisciplinary seminars. These requirements may even be more strict for students in different majors/colleges. Another problem, is the lack of incentives for students to remain in the Honors College. While the thought of graduating with a medallion around one’s neck and more knowledge than most may seem enticing to some, most students need something extra to encourage them to stay in the program. Finally, an issue that impacts the majority of honors students is the lack of…

I grew out of “fitting in” and decided to turn my life and aspirations towards a greater direction; on this road of discovery, I separated myself from those who valued arrogance and indifference. “Nerd Squad” is what I am a part of today, which is why I am currently confident enough to apply for the National Honors Society Scholarship. I believe I have grown into a tenacious, sympathetic, and joyous young man that the entire school has seen develop, and I am honored…

This will be the second time I make one of these essays and as a person who has experienced an AP course I am thrilled to express what I have accomplished and the objectives I want to attain for my future in AP. Before entering my first AP Class there was only a feeling of fright and a part of me was ready to bail so I could run back to the normal classes. However, now that I look back I am glad that I did not run away. Due to the Pre-AP and AP course that is offered by the school I was capable of achieving more than I could have ever imagined. For example, the vocabulary I utilize is way more extensive and my knowledge in English and Spanish grammar has increased for the better. Not only that, but values like responsibility and assertiveness have played an important role in AP course because of the high intellectuality and sophistication in them. My experience in AP this year has aided me to grow intellectually and…

My junior year of high school, according to several of my trust worthy teachers, should be rigorous and competitive if I ever wanted a chance to get into college. Naturally, being a gullible fool, I signed up for two AP classes, an honor class, and a sport. As a sport I chose wrestling, it was very time consuming but I knew I could manage. I felt pretty confident about AP biology and Algebra 2 honors since they were subjects I was fairly skilled in. but as for my other AP course, AP language and Composition, I was a bit uneasy.…

I decided to apply to the Honors College because I am a student who loves to be challenged. At my current university, I am not enrolled in an honors program, or am taking honors level classes. The reason for this is that as an incoming freshman, I was anxious about what my college workload would be like, and chose not to apply to the honors program. This is a decision that I truly regret. I have really enjoyed the classes that I’m taking, but I don’t feel that I’m being challenged in any of them. I received a 4.0 GPA last semester, and was on the Dean’s List. While this was a huge honor, I did not feel…
