My thirst for knowledge and the desire to share is prevalent now as well as important to my future goals. I believe I have been taught to expand my knowledge to a base in scientific method, holistic healthcare promotion and nursing theory which will allow me to give the best patient center care possible.
This may sound very typical, but as a very young girl I already knew what my purpose in this world was, to serve others; to find the satisfaction in knowing that I can help change the world one person at a time. To me, being a nurse is far more than a job or even a career. It's a continuous learning process that I look forward to each day, in search of life changing events and providing miracles for those in need. Touching the lives of others is the best gift given to one self. The pride I hold in saying, "I am a nurse," is immeasurable. As a short-term career goal, I have applied for my BSN and hope to complete it by 2017 as well as hoping to finding an internship that will help guide me and prepare me and even challenge me as I lead on the path of becoming an experienced Registered Nurse. I have definite plans to further my education in the future, but I know that I have so much more to learn about being a nurse before I can make any definite statements about wanting a particular degree. Whatever job I may have, my eternal goal is to be a person that both my patients and their families trust and respect, to be their advocate, and to be able to make the best decisions in regards to patient

While researching texts written and published about Nurse Practitioners, I have found that Nurse Practitioners are rapidly becoming the top health partner choice for many Americans. Nurse Practitioners have been servicing patients for over forty years. The NP role had its initiation in the mid-sixties in response to a lack of physicians in the United States. They can perform very extensive and concentrated examinations; distinguish and treat common keen illnesses, as well as laboratory tests; and educate and instruct patients and their loved ones about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and possible health care options. In all fifty states Nurse Practitioners are allowed to prescribe medications to patients, including controlled substances. Only twenty-six states allow Nurse…

I want to go into the pediatric nursing field for many reasons. I really enjoy working with kids especially little children. Volunteering at a saturday school with 4-5 year olds I became very good and comforting a child when sad or lonely. I work well with little children and enjoy being with them. I also want to go into nursing because every time I go to the doctors I always feel as if the nurses there do not enjoy their job. Which is probably wrong but they just always seem so monotone. I am half japanese so every summer when I go over to Japan and need to go to the doctors, the nurses there are always smiling trying to ease the tension between the child and the nurse themselves and that is the kind of nurse I want to be. I want to be a nurse like that in America to show people how much of a difference it could make and could lead to less fear of the doctors office. I see…

Do you ever find it hard to figure out where they are hiring ? or finding a job that suits your needs? if you answered “yes” to either of these questions, there is a skill called “networking”. So, you must now be asking yourself what is networking? As it states in a website called definitions.net, networking means “To take steps to make and cultivate the acquaintance of people who can be helpful to oneself, especially in finding new employment, advancing to a higher position in one's occupation, or exchanging information.” (GCIDE,5). This skill can be a very easy way to find a job, networking can be done either by face to face, gatherings, or contact methods such as email, phone, social and/or business networking websites. The gatherings can take place at a bar, restaurant, club or even the library. This is not a way to meet a new friend or a mate. People will give you their numbers to be in contact for business purposes only! The moment you try to get in contact with someone emotionally, there is no returning back. You will not be allowed to socialize or be a part of the networking system again. In the last few days, I’ve tried to network with my classmates from…

I have seen the beauty of nursing first hand and the tragedies also. When I was in the ICU I saw firsthand how impacting nurses can be and knew that once I left the military this was the career I wanted to pursue. I was alone, young, and recently diagnose with a life altering disease. The RN I had not only cared for me but also was there and talked to me when I needed it most. She helped me physically get back to health but also mentally helped me when I had no one by me. I was inspired greatly by how well she did her job. I want to be just a great as the RN that took care of me. I would like to help someone else through difficult times with same level of care I received or better. I have also unfortunately seen the downside to nursing. my uncle pass way after a RN gave him the wrong medication. I lost my favorite uncle to something that could have been prevented. It is very hard dealing a love one passing. It was even more difficult on us because we know if someone payed more attention to detail that he would still be here. Witnessing my uncle pass I realized the only way I can a difference is to become the difference. I want to be the change. I want to be the best nurse that god has intended me to…
