Macbeth is undoubtedly more evil than Lady Macbeth because of his ability to be so heartless and to carry out such atrocious actions. Not only did Macbeth play a significant role in the murder of King Duncan, but once he was crowned King he becomes conceited and angry believing that his position as King is worthless. This becomes a problem because he begins having evil thoughts and convinces himself that killing his best friend, Banquo, and his son, Fleance, would be the best option. According to Act 3 Scene 1, “Upon my head they placed a fruitless crown. And put a barren scepter in my grip, Thence to be wrenched with an unlineal hand, No son of mine succeeding. Overall, MacBeth believes in the witches’ prophecy and fears that his position will be ripped away so this causes him to have malicious thoughts and hires two murderers to kill both Banquo and Fleance.
