Firstly he introduces that he is the narrator in chapter one. Secondly he tells us how he came to Long island and how things are after moving to West Egg and moving in next to the Great Gatsby. He progress's from innocence to finally finding a moral. Finally he explains to us how he came between Daisy and Gatsby and at the he judges Tom, Daisy, Jordan and rejects their carelessness.

After World War One, he moved from the Midwest to Long Island. Nick gets the privilege of being the only character that changes over the course of the novel. Nick may be " one of the few honest people" but that doesn't mean he is very nice. He may be polite to everyone around him but he is not afraid to tell you like it is. When he first arrived at Long Island, he is interested by the lives of the rich and the freedom they have. As the novel progresses, he sees how their lives impact the lives of others. He realizes the bad things that wealthy people commit to people they consider beneath them.
Nick has told us that he reserves all judgements and he is honest and reliable narrator, but it is like he is judging people throughout the the hole novel. Tom and Daisy are " careless people." Jordan is " incurably dishonest." He judges people from the beginning all the way to the end. Therefore he is an unreliable narrator.
In conclusion it can be agreed that Nick Carraway does play a big role in the novel but is an unreliable narrator. Nick Carraway tells the story through his eyes. He moves to east egg fascinated by their lives. Lastly, he does judge people throughout the novel. He despises the people of Long Island and that is why he moved back to the upper
