Of course, I can relate to the characters since I’ve been living in Lanark almost all of my life. Being able to understand what the characters are going through based off the setting helps me like the play more. In the bijou town, everyone knows each other, so therefore, all the characters knew each other. With the characters knowing each other, they all tend to be more friendly and there is less drama, which can make a story great.
The part that I find interesting about the text as a whole is the beginning and the end and what they stand for. The beginning of Act I is the birth of life and the ending of Act III is the end of life, death. The reason why I like this part the most about the play is because they display the metaphor so well. They have birth at the beginning with the twins being born. Then George and Emily’s wedding in Act II, and Emily’s death in Act III with the story ending at 11 o’clock at night.
The play “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder has been an interesting play to read with the characters, and the setting. Moreover, the play was an extraordinary play and it was excellent to read. The symbolism that was used was very intelligent of the author. With more of the symbolism that Thornton used, it can make any play a really good play. In the end, I like the play for its characters, settings, and some of the figurative language that was used by Thornton
