they give usually go to unwed mothers and people with low to no income jobs. Promoting individuals that seek government assistance and to continue to not look for work. Welfare is the reason why the underclass continues to increase. The point of ghettos is to keep a certain kind of people oppressed, for the united states it’s the black community. Residential segregation is the problem of why other races do not associate with each other.
An area where mostly blacks live also anticipate that the hospitals and schools will mostly be operated by black leaving a uni-racial community. The social immobility is a cause as to why the black community still has not left the ghetto. People are usually affected by their surroundings it just depends if its negative or positive. In ghettos it is usually a negative effect on the community. Resulting in unemployment, violence, and poverty. Society developed this idea to blame the victim; meaning blame the black community for the conditions they live even though the people that are blaming put them in that condition. Residential segregation doesn’t stop at where they, it also is in their work place and educational
institutions. Verses from the article in the movie “Tent City” you saw a wide range of people living in poverty. It wasn’t just the black community it was also the white community. You saw in the move that the people in tent city was always looking for jobs and help. The area that they lived in hindered the people of tent city from finding jobs and getting the help they needed. They were treated badly because they were homeless. When tent city moved to a temporary place outside of the city they were kicked out because of their standard of living. The way the residents of tent city are treated is just like the ways the minority community was treated when it came to residential segregation. Society often looks at the homeless as victims that need to be blamed for their own problems. Many homeless suffer from mental illness and dieses that disable them from working a steady job. For this they are ostracized and looked down on.
