The most common treatment for this particular sleep issue in children is surgery. Surgery often involves the removal of enlarged tonsils and adenoids.

If you are the parent of a child suffering from sleep apnea then you need to be aware of the fact that this condition in children can cause a number of seemingly unrelated complications such as poor growth, headaches, heart, and lung problems. Sleep apnea can also affect your child's performance in school and can result in behavioural problems.

If you suspect that your child is experiencing sleep apnea, it is not something that should be ignored, especially if the symptoms point to the obstructive variety. If that is the case, then you should make an appointment to have a proper diagnosis of your child as soon as possible.
