My argumentative essay was titled “Health Disparities.” I focused on a social issue in Chicago, specifically in the South and West Sides. I took the position that health disparities are a major threat to social justice in Chicago. I had to make the paper’s tone formal. Furthermore, I also had to make sure I used scholarly sources and quotations that supported my claim. However, I needed to include a counterclaim to make my paper stronger. Having a counterclaim made my paper stronger because it shows how I did not just focus on one side of the argument, but also saw the opposing side. In order to write a compelling argumentative essay, I had incorporated rhetorical appeals. I used logos and ethos to add credibility to my paper. I enjoyed researching about health disparities, mostly because it deals with health care topics, which is a field I am very interested
