Essay On UA COMP
Other than the highly-valued mission of UA COM-P which train exemplary physicians to promote the health care of the underserved population, I value its culture, curriculum, and the community it serves.
The location of UA COM in Phoenix will offer me numerous learning opportunities like clinical experiences through nine clinical affiliates which will expose me to a wide array of people from various backgrounds, which is a vital part of being a physician in training. Serving people, especially underserved communities, is one of my top values that I share with UA COM-P and I hope that through volunteering at different health clinics like Wesley Community and Health Center, I will be able to enhance my skills by participating in hands-on patient care. I value culture as it regulates the conduct of a person and prepares them for the future. During the past years, public service helped me be more compassionate and ensure that I am always treating everyone with respect regardless of a person’s cultural or social background.

Part two of The Good Endeavor, sheds light as to why humans struggle with work in our day to day lives. Keller explains how it all roots back to the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve eating of the forbidden fruit, in his opinion, was a test. This opportunity to obey God merely because of who God is and what was asked of them was a sure fail. The author expands, saying because of this and every other fall of man "sin leads to disintegration of every area of life..” this would include work. Every person, job and area of life will have its fall. Not one particular part will be perfect. Keller gives an example from the play Amadeus. Mozart and Salieri, both composers but they each had success in their own. Salieri was envious of the kind of success Mozart had because he was no doubt a prodigy. However,…

First, is to travel and treat people around the world before I settle down. The other goal is to serve the underprivileged. I have been volunteering at Vidant Health for the past few months, and they focus on treating the underprivileged, sometimes even taking care of their medical bill. I did not quite understand it at first; my father always told me “There is no free lunch.” However, being a volunteer you mostly run blood, urine and feces samples to the lab, but the other side is patient care. Hearing the patients’ stories and spending time with them, I realize they are not just patients but real people with real stories. The medical field is not just about science, but it is mainly about the people we treat. I now firmly believe everyone should have a chance at the best healthcare available to…

In today’s society, one has to be culturally competent and sensitive to diversity issues in order to understand others. The reasons for this are to broaden one's worldview of others and be more open-minded, increase one's awareness of others' identities and cultures, as well as increasing one's knowledge of different ethnicities, races, and cultures. This allows someone to work with people from different backgrounds and be more accepting of the various cultures and people we will have to work with.…

New York City is rich with culture and tradition from around the world. Some of the major challenges I expect to face from working in this environment are the potential cultural divides that can exist between the patient and physician. Language barriers and societal disparities are among some examples that I expect to come across. The ability to be willing to view your patient as an individual, with their own customs and outlooks, forms a large role in building trust between the patient and provider. Though at times cultural differences can be detrimental in providing optimal care to the patient, the right mindset can significantly improve patient-physician cooperation. My multicultural heritage has given me the unique opportunity to interact empathetically with people from various cultural backgrounds.…
