Another major reason proving that it is necessary to get children vaccinated is because it affects other children’s lives and puts them at risk as well. “Special groups of people cannot be vaccinated” (“The Harm of…”), such as those with compromised immune systems or those who have cancers such as leukemia. These people rely on the public to get vaccinated so that they can be safe from preventable diseases as well. Some babies with weak immune systems are too young to get immunized, and in order to keep them safe, “it is important that [everyone] who [is] able to get vaccinated [is] fully immunized” (“Five Important Reasons…”). This way, family, friends, and loved ones do not have the risk of getting ill. “The more people who are vaccinated, the fewer opportunities a disease has to spread.” (“What Would Happen If…”) Therefore, it is necessary that everyone takes care of their immunizations. If there are “clusters of [unvaccinated children, it increases] the risk of exposing [a disease to] everyone in the community” (Steinhauer), affecting the community health as well. Not only does it affect those who are not immunized, but it also affects the community around those people. Many people die of diseases such as tetanus, pertussis, measles and mumps, and rubella each year. Considering that they are all preventable diseases and a couple of vaccines can keep one from death, the fact that immunizations are a threat is a tragedy. To keep everyone safe and to eliminate these diseases, it is necessary that everyone keeps up with and receives all recommended
