As human beings it's common nature to avoid conflict when it arises. In the article, "The Evils of Technology" by Carolyn Foster, she states the excuses of how students avoid telling the truth about not turning the work in, "The computer wouldn't let me save my work."(457). This represents the excuse that students use to avoid the true incentive of not turning the work on time. This excuse is a commonly used one at time for work that are related to essay and research papers. I used this excuse once or twice in my lifetime because of two reasons, one so I can have little more time finishing the work and another was to avoid being labeled as a person who didn't finish. There is another reason why we hide the truth because we want to present ourselves in another form rather than our true self to meet the expectations that are needed. In the article, "Facades" by Stephanie Ericsson cites how someone hides who they are, "When I put on a suit to go see client, I feel as though I am putting on another face, obeying the expectation…"(473).This shows that one needs to lie about who they are so they can put an image of themselves to avoid who they really are.
