Components of a Worldview The first component in a worldview would be the Philosophical Theology (God). This is the study of one’s belief in God and if he exists. I believe that God do exist, and my reasoning for this is how I was raised, born to a Baptist minister and raised in a Baptist church where I was taught about God, he is the only one who can turn night into day, heal the sick. So one of my worldviews is I can relate to believing in God because that is what I was taught and how I was raised. The next component is Metaphysics (ultimate reality). This is the study of philosophy and responsible for the study of existence. This answers the question “What is”? This encompasses …show more content…
everything that exists, as well as the nature of existence itself, it says rather the world is real or an illusion. Without the interpretation of the world around us we would be helpless to the deal with reality. Epistemology is the study of knowledge it answers the question “How do we know”?
This is the nature of concepts the validity of the senses, logical reasoning, as well as thoughts, ideas, memories, and emotions and all things mental. This is dealing with our minds and how minds are are related to reality, and rather these are valid or invalid. Epistemology helps us to determine the truth from false. Empiricism knowledge through experience actually being involved and experiencing what true, Rationalism knowledge is of acquired use through reason. Ethics is a major branch of philosophy, is the study of value or quality. And dealing with what is proper course of action for man. This answers the question “What do I do”? Ethics is dealing with right or wrong this is a requirement for human life. In situations of ethics sometimes we think with our hearts instead of our heads. We try to do what right and follow what is true to us. Philosophical anthropology is the study of human nature determined with the methods of philosophy (Velasquez, 2008). This has dealings with questions: what is the status of human beings in the universe? What is the purpose or meaning of human life? Is it possible for humanity to be made an object of systematic study? Free autonomous beings that make choices and direct the power of will to achieve what they believe will bring happiness. This is for us to use our human nature and senses to make grand
decisions. My personal worldview is that I believe in Christ God and knowing from my personal experience that he exists. When my grand-daughter was born four months early weighing only 1pound and 3.5 ounces I knew that there is a God it has almost been a year sense she was born and she is still here getting bigger and stronger so I know that he is real so I guess Epistemology is knowledge and I have the empiricism knowledge because I have experienced his powers of healing. I do not think my worldview affect my decision making because I am going to do what I know is right and live by my upbringing in my life.
