Moreover, 18 percent of U.S. women obtaining abortions are teenager (Jones, Darroch, and Henshaw, 2002). The Feminist Women's Health Center reveals “A sexually active teen who does not use contraception has a 90% chance of becoming pregnant within one year.” This statistic show that the United States has high teen pregnancy rate, and teenager birth control should be raised as a topic for resolving this problem.
Birth control is the way that men and women think of when they are not ready to have children. This issue might not be a big deal for adults, but it is a much more controversial subject for teenagers. According to the article “Undermining Parents: Access to Abortion and Contraception by Minors”, Flynn state that parents should participate in their teenagers’ decision about birth control because the involvement of parents reduces the number of abortions, conserves parents’ authority, and decreases the health risks. The article also shows that some people don’t agree with dispensing contraceptives at school.
