Once, I was to traveling to school along with a friend. We go by private bus and my friend that day decided to ride the bus without a ticket. I tried to persuade him not to be dishonest, but he said that he did not care about honesty.
When the bus came, I saw that it was very crowded. I thought that if my friend really wanted to do what he said, then the bus would suit him very much. We boarded the bus. As the bus was very crowded, the conductor did not come inside the bus to ask for tickets. I decided that I would buy my ticket when I would get down.
When the bus came near my school, I searched my pockets for my purse I could not find it in any pocket. I was horrified to discover that I had been picked by a pick-pocket. I decided that I would tell the conductor the whole story and felt sure that he would understand. I reached the gate and told him my story. He just grinned at me and told me that he had heard that story many times before and asked me to come up with something new. When I said that I was telling the truth, he became very angry and made me get down before the bus reached my school. I had to walk the rest of the way to school which took a long time. By the time I reached school, the gate had closed and I had to go back home.
When I met my friend my friend the next day, I asked him what he had done. He smiled at me casually and told me that when the conductor had asked for the ticket, he said that a man wearing a blue shirt was his father and he had bought two tickets. As the bus was very crowded, he could not remember the man and believed m friend’s story.
After this horrifying episode of my life, I was convinced that honesty is not always the best policy. An honest man is easily exploited by others
