If you watch The Vampire Diaries, and even if you don't, you've likely heard about the famous, more-than-a-little-gorgeous Salvatore brothers. Since Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is my personal favorite, he's up first actor that came to mind.

Damon is the "bad" brother, for sure. He was born in Mystic Falls in 1840, 7 years before his brother Stephan. We've gotten glimpses of his human life from the show, and it's clear that he was impulsive, disrespectful of authority figures (in particular, his father), rebellious and careless. He craved the thrill of adventure and danger, and was often engaged in high risk-taking behavior like drinking, gambling, and womanizing. His costume very much reflects his character. Damon is Mystic Falls' best-looking representation of good and evil. When it comes to Damon, it's all about dark colors, textured fabrics, and a seriously smoldering gaze. His hair is smooth and thick; something other characters would love running their fingers through. He is sexy and understated. Wearing slightly dark clothes; typically a t-shirt, a button-down shirt, a black leather jacket, and a pair of comfortable fitted (not skinny) jeans. This demonstrates that not only is the character laid back but confident, but also the actor they hire for the part. Both the actor and Damon share almost they same qualities of independence, cleverness, mysterious and sympathetic nature.

As a vampire, all of those character traits are magnified. At the beginning of the show, he could only be described as sinister. He was ruthless and unsympathetic, had little regard for human life, and had no guilt or remorse with killing any of them. Very selfish, arrogant, proud, and manipulative. (Not a pretty picture on paper, but still very appealing to the human eye.) You won't see Damon walk in like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. His posture is basically perfect and some almost get the impression he is looking over

Costigan is really a good guy affiliated with a bad name. Vice versa Damon is a bad guy affiliated with a good name. Jobs shouldn’t be lost because of someone’s family affiliation with certain groups especially if the person applying wants to change all that and has the knowledge and the will power to do so. I understand the phrase “like father, like son” but that isn’t always necessarily true. The world is not just black and white; it has shades of grey in it as…

Belonging is a sense of enlightenment felt when an individual gains an understanding of themselves in relation to others and the wider world. This is just one idea presented about belonging, however there are many different ways to belong and there can be barriers that prevent people from belonging. These ideas of belonging are explored throughout the short story “Neighbours” by Tim Winton and Peter Skyzneckic’s “Immigrant Chronicles”. “Immigrant chronicles” is a collection of poems that demonstrates the hardships experienced by migrants as a result of dislocation, alienation, discrimination and prejudice. The “Immigrant Chronicles” demonstrate how there are a variety of ideas about belonging and how people can gain a sense of belonging through shared experiences, relationships with others, being accepted within a society, and through an understanding of different cultures.…

I believe Margaret Drabble’s statement, “Our desire to conform is greater than our respect for objective facts,” to be quite true. Throughout history, people of all ages have wanted to be accepted and belong to a group rather than look at the facts and measure what is true and false. It is very evident in our society today that not only do we want to be accepted and belong, but we also are willing to do whatever it takes, no matter what the consequences turn out to be. I agree with Drabble’s statement and believe that it is true all around the world. If you were to step outside our society and look back at it objectively, I can assure you that you would see evidence of this.…

“The word vampire (or vampyre) entered the English language in 1732, according to The Oxford English Dictionary” (Skal 200). One can’t go living life without knowing about the vampire because they’re everywhere! Someone can spot a vampire on a cereal box known as Count Chocoula, commercials for candy, mouth wash, nail polish, greeting cards, even a grammar book called The Transitive Vampire. There are also many groups based upon vampires such as Vampire Information Exchange (VIE), Vampire Pen Pal Network, Vampire Studies Society, and who could forget the thousands of people who have become members of the Count Dracula Fan Club. Vampires are very well known to everyone.…
