Report – Pasts Bridge

John Huynh, Milan Cupic, Paul Mai, Jason Lay & Colin Nguyen
Aim
The aim of this report is to provide information relevant to the construction of a pasta bridge conducted by a team of six members. Information with respects to the bridge will include bridge design, constraints, diagrams of the pasta bridge, materials chosen to build the bridge, forces in particular members both with analytical and graphical solutions and research on six common types of trusses. This report will include research on six common types of trusses along with reasons for choosing a particular type of truss.
Introduction
A team of six members were given a task of building a pasta bridge each with divided roles. Rolls and jobs were delegated by myself the team leader and are as follows:
*Colin Nguyen was given the task of producing a full sized drawing of the truss design as well as taking part in the construction and designing of the pasta bridge.
*Jason Lay was given the task of constructing the bridge
*John Huynh is the team leader and divided the jobs and roles as well as over seeing that each member completed their individual jobs. As well as taking part in the construction and design of the bridge and producing a report of the pasta bridge.
*Milan Cupic was given the task of conducting research on six common types of truss.
*Paul Mai was given the task of constructing the bridge as well as purchasing materials and equipment required for the construction of the bridge.
*Todd Rattakone was given the task of predicting the forces in five members of the bridge with both analytical and graphical solutions.
As part of our task we had to make a bridge of truss of suspension design out of pasta that spans a distance of 300mm or 30cm as well as being wide enough to hold its rigidity and strength to accommodate for a model bus that weighs 1kg with dimensions 48.88mm wide 42.5mm high and 100mm long being dragged
