After they won the revolutionary war, the newly independent colonies had a new kind of battle ahead of them, setting up a new government to unite under. Their first attempt was the Articles of Confederation. This plan gave a lot of power to the states and did not set up a strong central government. It ultimately failed which caused the framers to hold another Continental Congress to decide on a new way to set up the government. From this was born our great Constitution.…

The Founding Father's views on government were influenced by both the classical republican and the natural rights philosophers. The two groups of philosophers held very different views on how a government should run. The classical republicans believed that the individual should sacrifice his or her personal freedoms in order to gain the greater good. The natural rights philosophers, on the other hand, held that a person's individual freedoms out to be preserved at all costs. The two greatest examples of historical precedent in republican government were the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations, which both gave the people a great deal of power in the government by allowing them a voice. The natural rights philosophers favored the Greeks, while most classical republicans admired the Romans.…

Last week’s foundation course, exposed me to a lot of issues regarding my profession as an election officer, it gave me food for thought. As a scholar and student of public policy and administration, what kind of responsibilities will this course place in my care, based on the information I would have gathered and assimilated, that I would have to pass on to those in my work place who would be the first people to notice something different in me as I go through this course. My conviction with regards, to issues of election policies, justification and immediate implementation of administrative processes, ensuring, the ethics of free, fair and credible elections are implemented and the bottle necks of administrative bureaucracy reduced, if not totally removed, is the question I ask myself “but you are one person” how do you effectively make a distinct difference in your environment. I am hoping that by the end of this program and with the help of all I will come in contact with at Walden University, I would have found answer to questions as they unfold.…

When you associate anything with New York City it is usually the extraordinary buildings that pierce the sky or the congested sidewalks with people desperate to shop in the famous stores in which celebrities dwell. Even with my short visit there I found myself lost within the Big Apple. The voices of the never-ending attractions call out and envelop you in their awe. The streets are filled with an atmosphere that is like a young child on a shopping spree in a candy store. Although your feet swelter from the continuous walking, you find yourself pressing on with the yearning to discover the 'New York Experience'.…

In a classical liberal government, the government plays a smaller and limited role in the lives of the people. Classical liberalism limits the state’s power thus allowing the people more freedom to do what they want. Things such as economics and social interactions are not regulated in a government that follows classical liberalism. In a government which follows modern liberalism, the government plays a much greater role. They become much more involved and are in charge of regulating things such as social and economic interactions. The government becomes an interventionist government. The goal of the interventionist government is to provide expansive liberty to its people. Modern liberalism is a revised version of classical liberalism. It was created because some saw classical liberalism as to unequal and flawed.…
