Regulations covering manual handling and the risks associated with lifting and carrying children
When working in childcare it is normal for the work to involve lifting and carrying babies and children, as well as carrying any equipment or large toys so it is important to do this properly. If a workers technique of lifting is incorrect, this can result in back injuries and/or risk of sprains and/or fractures to limbs. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 supplement the general duties placed on employers and others by general Health and Safety regulations.
