One of your friends uses the terms ethics and morality interchangeably. You do not think this is correct. How would you explain the difference between ethics and morality? Provide an example of morality and one of ethics in your explanation.
Ethics is a system of moral principles: the ethics of a culture. The rules of conduct recognized in respect to a particular class of human actions or a particular group, culture, etc.: medical ethics: Christian ethics. Moral principles, as of an individual: His ethics forbade betrayal of a confidence. The branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions.
Morality is conformity to the rules of right conduct: moral or virtuous conduct. Moral quality or character. Virtue in sexual matters; chastity. A doctrine or system of morals. Moral instruction; a moral lesson, precept, discourse, or utterance.
If one of my friends used the terms ethics and morality interchangeably in reference to Christianity. This can be correct because Christians are a group of people that conform to the rules of moral conduct. The difference between ethics and morality is a learned behavior and how an individual believes is the right conduct.
.An example of morality and one of ethics would be homosexuality. My best friend from childhood is gay and I love him very much. My morality allows me to voice my thoughts on my feelings of his lifestyle. My Christian ethics has taught me the rules of conduct goes against everything about my friends lifestyle in regards to his sexuality. Although my ethics and morality goes against my friends lifestyle, I continue our friendship and I love him very much.
