10. Every year, Ethisphere Magazine publishes a list of the world’s most ethical companies. Go to its website ; find and evaluate their rating methodology and criteria, and engage in an assessment.
According to the website ethisphere.com, the EQ framework consists of five core categories. The 5 categories and associated weighting for each is defined as ethics and compliance program, corporate citizenship and responsibility, culture of ethics, governance and leadership, innovation and reputation.
Ethics and compliance program take the biggest part of 35%. The criteria used for this category are fully aligned to corporate best practice, relevant case law and the “hallmarks” of an effective compliance and ethic program as outlined by the federal sentencing guidelines.
Culture of ethics and corporate citizenship and responsibility take the second part of 20 %. Corporate citizenship and responsibility reviews a wide range of a company’s performance indicators associated with sustainability, citizenship and social responsibility. Culture of Ethics examines the extent to which an applicant promotes an organizational culture that encourages and achieve ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance with the law.
Governance takes a part of 15% and looks at the availability and quality of systems designed to ensure strong corporate governance including oversight, governance principals and risk management. Leadership, innovation and reputation takes the smallest part of 10% and it measures a company’s legal compliance, litigation and ethical track record, along with strength of the company’s ethical reputation in the market place including with key stakeholders such as employees and customers.
