Over the course of this course I have learned many different things about the human lifespan development. I chose to do my informal interview with a BA (Behavior Analysis) about the challenging behaviors of school aged children. This paper will also go into literature that I read along with the interviewing process that took place to get a better insight on what kind of behaviors maybe seen, causes and effects, along with different options on how to prevent or reduce the undesired behaviors. I will go over the types of questions that were raised in the interview and the synopsis of the entire interview in whole. I never realized until getting more in-depth with human lifespan the varying reasons why some undesired behaviors happen. I have worked in the mental field before and am currently working with adult mentally disabled individuals, but never realized the different reasoning’s and how much prenatal care actually impacts a person. Learning many things along the way have helped me better understand not only behaviors that are seen at my job but I am not a better equip parent following this course. For the most part parents just want to give into children’s behaviors and not really look into how or why the behaviors are occurring. Environments are really never taken into consideration some parents point out other individuals but never look at the whole picture in one. I hope that this could maybe even help others who may read this take a second look or even get another opinion on why undesired behaviors of their own children may occur.…

When children can emotionally establish a good relationship with their peers at a young age, they show good signs of age appropriate mental health. When an infant can laugh and crawl over to other class mates this shows developmentally appropriate emotions and actions. From a young age children need to learn how to establish good mental health from their caregiver. As teachers we are also obligated to watch and make sure the children are not doing things that would be consider in appropriate behavior that may be signs of negative mental health. As a teacher if we observe a child wanting to fight with other children, or not being able to understand certain consequences when it comes to action he/she has made. This would be a good time to get the family involved this will give us the opportunity to see what home life may be like. If we can find out what is going on in the home then it will give us a better understanding as to why this child may be acting out.…

Of all the roles in parenting, no part is as important as raising children with good values. As parents, we may hope our children are good athletes, achieve in school, are artistically talented, or good looking, but nothing is as important as their moral behavior. If our children are not good, honest, self-disciplined, kind, hard-working people, then their humanity is diminished. Parents need to respect children and require respect in return. Discipline must be respectful and model the restraint, gentleness, and fairness we expect of our children. As children get older, we need to ask for and consider their opinions when setting rules and consequences. These past ten years might as well go down in history as the “Decade of Moral Erosion.” Wall Street “leaders,” politicians, celebrities, and even the clergy and their parade of unethical acts were continual news stories. The Internet became scarier;TV featured more casual sex and vulgarity; political and corporate scandals became raunchier and more public; video games became even cruder; music lyrics were ruder; movies were often steamier and more violent. And if that isn’t enough, data shows that those ethical infractions are impacting the kids. Their social scene is even meaner and more aggressive. Bullying has not only intensified but is also no longer limited to playgrounds. Cyberbullying is the hot new craze. According to Good Kids, Tough Choices, “A Boys and Girls Club of America survey of 46,000 teens confirmed by their own reports that peer pressure is fiercer. Drinking, shoplifting, cheating, lying, stealing, and sexual promiscuity have not only increased but are also hitting our kids at younger ages” (Rushworth, 2010). These really are scary times to raise kids. We need to nurture a solid moral core that will guide our kids to stand up for their beliefs and act right even without us. Children can learn the core virtues and skills of strong character and moral courage even when they are toddlers.…
