On my first day on the medical floor at KBRH another second year nursing student and I entered the nursing stations to begin our first day of practice. Upon entering we walked into a conversation between nurses who were talking about working with students. One nurse was heard saying “what wrong with students all they had was one patient”, using a condescending tone while rolling her eyes. This comment was in reference to a student not completing charting on her patient because they did not have time and passed it off to the primary nurse. This happened to be on the first day of charting in which there was not time for all the students to chart. It was not a welcoming statement for my first day on the floor. This particular nurse’s attitude continued through my practice as cold, condescending and unprofessional. The most surprising part of her behavior towards students is that she only recently graduated from nursing school a couple of years
