This swimming accident left her a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the shoulders down. She began to have thoughts of taking her own life because she could not deal with the depression any more. Due to the depression, she feels that she has no purpose in life and her future is dreary. The dilemma is that she wants to be permitted to legally terminate her life due to her condition, but if she did this she would be essentially “playing God” and dictating when and where she dies. One begins to think, is it ethically right to take your own life? To resolve this dilemma one of the following could occur:
• She could end her misery and depression by being euthanized due to her condition.
• She could continue to live her life. She could attempt to understand the purpose God has made for her life. By continuing to live, she could make an impact on the lives of many.

“The assertion is clear: euthanasia is an instance of murder, which is categorically forbidden in Scripture” (Erickson). Not only are you committing murder, but those who are in charge of the euthanizing process are committing murder. The Bible says, “More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts thought the Holy Spirit who has been given to us” (Zondervan Study Bible NIV, Romans 5:3-5). Humans were made in the image of God, yet we are sinful by nature. The sin in the world leads to the heartbreaking depression and the sufferings, but we are strong in God. My belief is that we should rise up with strength and plow through our tribulations because there is a reason for everything God
