Ethical Issues and Management Paper
It’s never easy being a business manager of a large company. There are so tasks and responsibilities that come along with being a business manager. Many people will say that their job is easy and they wish they had it, but in reality, it’s not that easy. There are so many responsibilities that come with being a business manager. Responsibilities include: the hiring of employees, evaluating the employee’s job performance, the discipline actions, the termination, the diversity, harassment, manager as a role model, etc., the list goes on. When it comes to being a business manager, when those employee’s step through that company door, they are your responsibility and it’s extremely important that you, as a business manager, makes sure that everything goes and runs smoothly. Out of all the topics to choose from, the topic in which I have had experience in is termination.
When it comes to termination, managers are faced with these types of decisions every day, and making that decision is never easy. So having to terminate one of your employee’s is one of the most difficult parts of being a manager, and many manager’s, if not most, dread having to make that decision on terminating one of their employee’s. All managers know that terminating an employee has its affects, not just on the employee, but for others as well. One of the biggest affects that termination has on employees is that their job is their livelihood. The employee lives paycheck to paycheck and now that they have just been terminated is difficult. It’s really hard to swallow knowing that the employee had just got terminated. For the employee who got terminated, there are a million of things running through your mind, such as: What am I going to do about daycare?, How am I going to pay my bills?, Now that I don’t have insurance, what if my kids get sick and need medical care?, etc. All of those questions and more is what ran through my mind when I got terminated from my previous employment.
