“Corporate social responsibility refers to a firm’s deliberate pursuit of economically, socially, and environmentally conscientious policies and practices, (Editorial Board, 2015).” Based on this definition the decision to make Coach Boone the head coach was not an appropriate decision. Corporate social responsibility is supposed to be for the positive of the economy and done with a conscious effort on the responsible party. The School Board originally hired Coach Boone be an assistant coach for the Titans and later made him the head coach. They made him the head coach so that if he lost a game they could fire him. Coach Yoast could have went to Coach Boone and told him about the plot before the game Instead Coach Yoast decides to keep quiet about the plot to get Coach Boone fired. Coach Yoast chose to not do anything at first and watched the referees throwing the game in order to get Coach Boone fired. Coach Yoast watches as Coach Boone and the players realize that the referees are calling bad plays on purpose. He finally decides to do something about the plot and threatens the referee if he does not start calling the game plays correctly. Coach Yoast could have called the referees out sooner. He could also have told the gentlemen at the dinner that he wanted no part of the plot. The role of management in organizational conflict situations is to decide whether to stimulate conflict or resolve it. Sometimes stimulating conflict can lead to a more creative solution to the conflict. In the movie ‘Remember the Titans’ Coach Boone faced the conflict of players that hated each other because of the color of their skin. Coach Boone chose to resolve this conflict. He forced the players to get to know each other as human beings. The conflict was eventually resolved after they realized that the color of their skin did not have anything to do with who they were as a
