Most CBP officers corruption cases tend to involve some motive to obtain a better life by receiving a large sum of currency. These officers will do anything to receive money, houses, cars, and even sexual activity from the drug cartels. For example, letting cartels smuggle drugs across the border into the United States by allowing them to go through their line with no issues. After allowing this to happen the officers knew a payment would be coming shortly. Just like in the article, the nine officers who were charged with bribery or smuggling received sixty-thousand dollars for a single shift. Border Protection department should offer one class or seminar in professional ethics because these individuals will encounter a situation that will put these agents decision making to the test. It important that the professional ethics course main goal is to teach about moral growth. For example, having the responsibility to make moral decision that will influence the result in the situation or even the world’s prospective on the situation. Also logical thinking should also be encourage during training. Overall, there are many other trainings that will benefit the agents in doing the right thing and not falling for unethical decisions.

These leaders should maintain an environment that has respect and integrated among all agents. With this environment, agents should be aware of ethical issues that are going on rather formal or informal conversations.
