Ms. Cadillac-Tessitore is an intermittent employee hired to help develop and train the Hemodialysis Registered Nurse's to perform peritoneal dialysis. She helped the Nurse Manager and peritoneal Coordinator in the planning, coordination and implementation of the program. This is a brand new program, developed to bring back the Veterans who are receiving their care out in the community. With the complexity of their care due to increased co-morbidities it is critical for them to receive all their care at the PVAMC. Ms. Cadillac-Tessitore used evidence based resources in helping to create the program. The Peritoneal Dialysis International standards were used. Objectives were written and goals set. The evidence based information was vast and included the following: The International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis (ISPD) Guidelines, Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality critical thinking skills and keen assessments to train the nurses to the best of their ability. She is able to strike a balance of comforting support and sharp nursing skills to mentor and/or coaches others to promote their educational development. She has passed on valuable skills, knowledge and insight to the unit nurses.

Cadillac-Tessitore recognizes the balance that patients need to have to maintain their quality of life while also on peritoneal dialysis. She understands the range of emotional and spiritual needs of the chronically ill population when providing them care
