Introduction
• Lae City is known as an industrial city & the central location business activities in PNG.
• In the past several years until now, ethnic conflicts in the has been rising and it as affected most of the economic activities.
• Ethnic conflict is a disagreement between different ethnic groups. The disagreement sometimes result in violent behaviors .
• When ethnic conflicts occurred in Lae. It has disturbed business houses /industrial cooperation's operations and people. • Main Research Question; How are people and businesses affected by ethnic conflicts in Lae city?
Research Problem
• Papua New Guinea faces a serious problem that is adding to the serious law and order problem throughout the country.
• Ethnic tension is not confined to just one part of the country but is widespread and poses a serious threat to the security of this country
• Clash of ethnic groups in Lae as become one of the main law and order issue in the second capital city of Papua New
Guinea. In the past couple of years and unit now ethnic conflict is still going on. During those ethnic conflicts many have resulted in violence. Fights broke out with different ethnic groups.
• Properties were destroy. People were killed and leaving many homeless.
• “I would like to see life in the city return to normal tomorrow (today) and businesses allowed to open their doors,” he said.
