I. Title of the Issue or Problem “Barangay San Jose and its Illuminating Giant Star” Ethnographic study is a systematic process of observing, describing, detailing, documenting and analyzing the cultural beliefs, practices, customs and rituals of a cultural group in order to obtain information about their culture in their particular environment. That is why for our Ethnography, we have decided to feature Barangay San Jose and its well- known Giant Lantern.
II. Objectives
We want to explore Barangay San Jose especially its geography and its landmarks.
We want to educate ourselves regarding Barangay San Jose’s Giant Lantern Making industry such as its process and the materials needed.
We want to hear the insights of the Giant Lantern Makers particularly the reason why they involved themselves on such a thing.
We want to determine the San Jose’s well known and unique culture, tradition and beliefs.
We want to view and perceive the way and state of life of the residents and constituents of Barangay San Jose.
We want to learn something regarding Barangay San Jose’s history, achievements and governmental matters.
III. Geography The City of San Fernando, Pampanga is one of the world class cities in the Philippines. It is one of the first class component of the Central Luzon Region 3. It is located 67 kilometers (41 miles) north of Manila, 50 kilometers (31 miles) east of Subic Bay in the Zambales province, and 16 kilometers (9 miles) south of Clark Field in Angeles City. The city is positioned at the crossroads of Central Luzon. The city is named after Fernando VI of Spain and placed under the patronage of Ferdinand III of Castile, King of Castile and León, whose feast is celebrated every 30 May. The city is also known for its festivals particularly the Giant Lantern hosted every month of December. The city has 35 barangays and almost 10 participate annually. One of these barangay
