Pathos, Ethos, and Logos in “An Inconvenient Truth” “An Inconvenient Truth” directed by Davis Guggenheim is a documentary that Al Gore stars in for the public purpose of increasing awareness about climate change due to greenhouse gases, but for the indirect political purpose of increasing Gore’s popularity amongst the educated masses. Gore’s direct audience would be the liberal thinkers and people concerned about their environment or the future of their family. He asserts that global warming is severely impacting the environment and changes need to be implemented in people’s everyday lives to reduce the negative side effects of the human race’s actions. Gore’s tactics are compelling and highly effective to the point that the documentary received many reviews, both negative and positive, along with millions of dollars in the box office.

He then juxtaposes himself with a bigger picture of earth as he marvels at her beauty, which displays his respect and awe towards the planet, and associates himself as the protector or father-like figure for earth. This tactic also reinforces the connection between a healthy planet and Gore. Gore can be perceived as a trustworthy and smart person, due to the fact that he cares about the topic at hand, has evidence, and is passionate about the subject.     This web that Suzuki speaks of has been built up and perfected over millions of years. Every single aspect of nature has found a way to evolve and mold its way of living to depend on every single other aspect. This includes, whether we know it or not, human beings. Gore sees the world from a different, more statistical lens. In his eyes, though we are part of this earth and ecosystem, we are not made up of the elements, but rather are inhabitants of this planet for a short while.     Daniel Botkin and Al Gore have very different views on the issues of global warming. Botkin contends that the scare tactics used by Gore and many similar thinking environmentalists are simply a desperate means intended to alarm the public and force governments to take actions that are unnecessary and misdirected. One reason that this editorial is so effective is because Alley gives examples of the problems that humans could face in the future due to abrupt climate change and global warming.     Albert Arnold Gore is a visionary and a pioneer. He has taken the most monumental step today in informing the people of the crisis situation that is developing and worsening. Personally, I knew that global warming today has rapidly been becoming a major concern but what the movie showed truly shocked me. I guess it is no surprise that most people would think this was just a mere blow up to a minor issue but is it truly so? Aren't there already so much evidence that supports Algore's campaign against this issue? In the movie Algore talked most about was the dangerous increase in the carbon dioxide levels as a consequence. What this statistic showed was that with increasing carbon dioxide in our atmosphere more and more infrared light become trapped and thus causing an increase in temperature. Well, it would be good if, say, all the consequence to this would be a little warmer world but no, the resulting effect is not that easily dismissible. Fiercer cyclones, typhoons and storms are resulting from global warming. Vast masses of lands are sinking under water. The ecosystems of the world are also being negatively affected by this issue.
