He also uses pathos to give the audience something to look forward to. “This is a day when all Americans from every walk of life unite in our resolve for justice and peace.” Given how sad the moment was, uniting everyone for one purpose gives us something to look forward to.
In his speech the appeal to logos is almost nonexistent. Logos is the logic of the speech and is not needed nearly as much because the people want to be comforted and not told logical information. “Immediately following the first attack, I implemented our government's emergency response plans.” This is a logical thing to do as it keeps the people safe. It also informs them of his actions and it doesn't leave them out.
President Bush's 9/11 speech held much significance in our history. It thoroughly represented ethos and pathos and its use of logos was limited producing a good effect. Ethos was used when his position gave authority to what was being done about the situation. Pathos was used to ease the emotional side of the American people's minds and to help us move on.
